Biography

Florian Blang's fascinating journey began 18 years ago in his hometown of Hamburg. Even as a teenager, he immersed himself in the world of filmmaking, teaching himself the art of editing and filming. With his first 600 euros, he acquired a camera that laid the foundation for his burgeoning career. The streets of Hamburg became his creative playground, where he unfolded his passion for skate videos.

Following his high school graduation, Florian pursued his interest, honing his skills in film and television at the „Filmakademie Hamburg. This academic path, coupled with his freelance work, provided him with the opportunity to further develop his artistic vision. The journey also took him to the „University of Mittweida“ for a year, refining his skills and expanding his portfolio.

At 22, packed with experiences, Florian decided to carry his creative talents to the Austrian capital. The vibrant scene and numerous production companies in Vienna enticed him. Starting as a camera assistant, he quickly worked his way up. However, it wasn't just his trained eye behind the camera that set him apart but also his curiosity and willingness to embrace new technologies.

The pandemic brought a turning point in Florian's career. With the growing interest in drone footage, he delved into the world of FPV, focusing on First Person View. This decision marked a pivotal moment when he acquired his first drone. The transition from traditional camera operator to specialized drone shots was seamless. Florian's ability to liberate the camera from gravity added a unique allure to his shots.

Florian's approach distinctly differs from other FPV pilots. He emphasizes that it's not just about acrobatics or spectacular maneuver, but rather visually telling and supporting stories. This creative vision resonated, and his drone skills were swiftly recognized. In a short period, he went from having one to owning 17 different drones, catering to the diverse demands of his projects.

Florian embraced the challenge of continuously improving himself and his craft. Mentors played a role, as did his own research on the internet. In Austria, where the FPV market is still manageable, he established himself with his special and novel access.

Florian's future plans are as ambitious as his journey. With the aim of operating at a high-end level across Europe, he aspires to achieve an even higher aesthetic quality in his work. Aesthetics, he emphasizes, play a central role in his passion. His profession allows him to unite his love for flying and the versatility of his job. In the future, Florian plans to further elevate his visual standards, continuing to tell stories through his unique perspective – a journey defined by the passion for flying and the art of filmmaking. ©norakahn
